THE FANTASTIC STROKES OF IMAGINATION
by Emily Nasrallah
Translated by Rebecca Porteous
Illustrations by Rawya Sadeq

Emily Nasrallah is one of Lebanon's most loyal and internationally recognised women writers. Born and brought up in the southern Lebanese village of Kfeir, she went to university in Beirut and stayed there for most of her adult life, living through much of the civil war.
The stories that make up this anthology have been chosen for their celebration of an emerging self-expression in the women they portray. Throughout her book, the voice is very much that of the woman addressing quintessentially female anxieties and pressures, to which women, not just in the Arab region, but all over the world, are subject.
